Sound Journeys: What a successful series of these relaxing, ambient music sessions featuring Lynne and I on harps, singing bowls and verse. Participants enjoyed being part of the music, creating their own soundscape with us for the final piece 'Solitary Flight'. Great venue at Vaucluse Gardens and Saturday afternoon works a treat. Finally we've found the day, time and place that people can get to. Hooray for live music and a chance for people to lie down, listen and relax. Stop worrying about the everyday stuff and be part of something special.

Aqua at Brookfield
No, not water in the brook - field, although there may have been some...
Aqua is the name of Ethereal's latest concert program and was performed yesterday at Brookfield Vineyard, Margate. The concert featured harps, flute, cello, didgeridoo, and percussion with some original verse. The audience was appreciative and enjoyed the music. We got some photos but they are a bit blurry; I know some people asked for soft focus but this might be going a bit far.
Thanks to Brookfield for having us and we hope to be out performing again very soon.
In the meantime we are getting ready to perform our Guided Journeys series in February. These sessions feature 2 harps, singing bowls and original verse, with a preparation, guided imagery meditation, then coming back to the present. More info on this soon.

Stairway to Heaven
Stairway to Heaven never sounded so good! Thanks Ethereal girls for a great rehearsal. We do special requests for weddings and this one will be played in a couple of weeks. Great blend of cello, harp and flute. The scary/amazing thing is 2 of the members had their own original copies of Stairway to Heaven at the rehearsal: first sheet music ever bought... mine was purchased from Allans Music, Adelaide, from their downstairs room full of sheet music. And one of the members used to play it every week in her band, so she's reliving the old days. It's a slight sideways step from our usual original music but it's quite a fun thing to do.

Cygnet 2012...
I want to start by thanking the wonderful team at Cygnet Folk Festival, Tasmania where I played last weekend with the group I perform in called 'Ethereal'. (www.etherealensemble.com) To have 3 harps, plus flute, cello, percussion, didgeridoo, all on stage and playing to a packed audience was just awesome. 2 out of the 3 harps were made by local Cygnet harpmaker Andrew Thom. Thank you to the committee, volunteers and people of Cygnet. The 30th was the best!
Ethereal is playing this weekend, Sunday January 15th at Brookfield Vineyard, Margate just south of Hobart at 4.00pm. Same line-up: harps, flute, cello, didg, percussion, some original spoken verse - fabulous relaxing, ambient music. It's our 'Aqua' concert, music written for the summer, so please come along and enjoy the sounds. Food, drinks, CDs available. $5.00 door sales.
Tuition:
Harp lessons are starting up again next week. I'm so excited and grateful for the number of my students wishing to continue to learn this beautiful instrument this year. I'm always inspired by their willingness to learn and grow as musicians. More information on this next week.
